I am currently reading "The Ultimate Treasure Hunt" by Kevin Dedmond. The first day I had the book I could barely put it down and I am soaking it up like a sponge. The premise of the book is to get a "word of knowledge" (ask God) and then take a team out and minister. The teams find people to minister to by the clues they were given while asking God. What you see in the book is that as people step out of their comfort zones and show the love of God then God moves mightily. There are many testimonies of salvations, healing, restoration, etc. There is so much more into this, but that's a basic skeleton summary.

I am blessed to be given the privilege of once a month speaking to our youth. On Tuesday morning I simply asked God "What do You want to tell the kids this week" and in less than 30 minutes I had 2 pages of notes. Now the point of mentioning that is because it wasn't until later that day that I began to read this book.

Then as I read the book a few passages stuck out to me that coincided with and confirmed the notes that God had given me earlier that morning. Check out these two excerpts:

"I believe many non-Christians are negative towards The Good News because of our frequent lack of demonstrating the Kingdom we are tempting to promote" "Many reject God because they have had negative encounters in the past with Christians who have MISREPRESENTED (my emphasis) God to them"

Let's make it real for a minutes. Why do parents get so hurt and frustrated when their teenage daughter gets pregnant? There are two main things that first come to my mind. One) They feel as though she just damaged her future Two) They think "that is not how I raised you"

As a CHRISTian you are adopted into the Kingdom of God. You become a SON OR A DAUGHTER (You all know my passion for this topic). As a Son or Daughter, whether you like it or not,  you now REPRESENT your Father. When we act ungodly to others God knows that our sin will have negative consequences and TWO others will tie your actions to God's character.

Did you know that you have a responsibility? You have a responsibility to be a representation of God's character. To be His Son or Daughter and show the world who He is, how He acts, how He works. I love the first quote from Dedmond. "our lack of demonstrating the Kingdom we are trying to promote"

What all goes into demonstrating the Kingdom? I won't get into all of that here, but let's start with LOVE, PEACE, JOY, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULLNESS, GENTLENESS, SELF CONTROL. Then we can start talking about being BOLD and witnessing or how about praying for healing over a stranger.

My friends all make fun of me for it but I'll say it everyday of my life. Be Like Jesus Today. This is what we really need more of. Christians acting like Jesus. Loving like He loves, Living as He lived....

Be Like Jesus, Represent our Father God's character, Be Blessed, J. Tate
