I was pleasantly reminded of something today. We need each other. Oh, there's something inside of me that has always fought this truth. I've been raised to be a very independent person and in many ways I'm so grateful for that. However, many times in life I've had the sweet reminder that God created us for community, the BODY of Christ. You don't have to do things alone.
As I was reminded of this truth MULTIPLE TIMES today, I realized how important it was to share this with you, some of my loving community. You don't have to be alone. Oh the Holy Spirit is a remarkable friend and counselor, I am in no way discounting His great work of peace and joy inside of us, but I am pondering 1 Corinthians 12.
v14 "For the body is not one member, but many." v20 "but now are they many members, yet but one body" v21 "and the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee; nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you" v 26 "and whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it"
We can't forget that we need each other. We need each other's gifts, we need each other's talents, we need each other's care, concern, and love. The body needs you to do your part with your talents and it needs you to do your part with your love. Check out these next two.
John 13:34-35 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
And look at this one from the message (ya'll know I don't believe the message is a "translation" but rather more of a study tool if you'd like to use it) Romans 12:9-10 Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
Love, love, love. Love deeply. Get Lower Still and when it's your turn to need your neighbor remember that there are people who love you. There are people who want to be there for you. We are the BODY OF CHRIST we should love and learn to be loved, serve and let others serve, all the while relying on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us.
Be Blessed, J. Tate
