An Attacker

I was talking to a student at the local high school yesterday when she made a statement I've heard many times. She was telling me about the pain she's had caused from deaths, rape, and various other life trials. She said, "I just don't understand why if God is loving He'd want me to be raped." I spent several minutes talking to her and praying with her and will be meeting with her again today as she makes the decision to cry out on my Lord Jesus for help, the best decision she'll ever make.

My heart breaks when I talk to people who believe that God "wanted" them to be raped or harmed. Immediately I know that we have a misunderstanding of our identity. You see when you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, you become transformed from a SLAVE into a CHILD (Gal. 4) Out of you mothers, fathers, and guardians reading this how many of you have thought "My daughter just needs to be raped, my son just needs to be abused, they just need some good ole' heartache, that'll teach em?".

The Bible says as a father has compassion on his children, so God has compassion on His righteous. (Ps. 103) The Bible says if we being evil  know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more our Father in heaven? (Matthew 7) Yep it even says He disciplines us, but it says He disciplines as a father does a son THAT HE DELIGHTS IN. (not as a father who disciplines a son that he hates) (Proverbs 3)

We live in a world burdened by the weight of sin. We have an enemy who comes to "steal, kill, and destroy", he is the "father of lies", those are his ways, not the ways of my Father. In fact we can take all that the enemy is and know that God is the complete opposite. If the enemy is darkeness, my God is light, if the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy than God came to give, bring life, and build up.

As you live this life, you'll get battle scars, sin always has a consequence, whether it be your sin or someone else's sin, consequences follow. We'll be hurt by our own and others. Hurting people will hurt people and the enemy will be right there in the middle to encourage it all. BUT, I have a God with redemption in His plan. A plan that defeats the schemes of the enemy, restores your life, and heals your soul.

I have much more to say on this, but will end here. We have a God who tests our faith, but does not tempt us. We have a Father who disciplines us, but His discipline isn't abuse. We have many things happen in life simply because there is an attacker, there is an enemy, and there is a world full of people with free will.
