Oh let's be honest, every single person reading this can think of a source of stress in their life. Maybe it's your job, maybe it's your spouse, your kids, maybe it's finances, perhaps it's family members sick or hurting, maybe you've been watching the news or certain political channels (LOL), perhaps you know people who are lost, hurting, not serving God, maybe you were just running late to work this morning. The list could go on of potential stressers that are thrown your way everyday. If you're breathing, there's a POTENTIAL stress moment.
Remember my big word study on potential? I'm still clinging and studying what God said to me months ago "man has not seen their POTENTIAL with the Holy Spirit since Jesus walked the earth". But remember, potential, simply means an ability that may OR MAY NOT be used. There are plenty of things that have the ability to stress you out, but it's up to YOU if they do or not. The Holy Spirit is there to lean on in moments of potential stress, but YOU must choose to lean on Him.
I don't think I need to convince any of you that we don't want "stress", the side effects are innumerable, but no worries there is a cure....
There is a direct correlation in your stress level and your trust level.... ummm... SELAH?
Trust believes the Word of God. It trusts in God's love for you. Trust will lean on the Holy Spirit. Trust in Him with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, and HE WILL MAKE STRAIGHT YOUR PATH. When you choose to lean on the Holy Spirit He will bring to your remembrance God's Word of Truth. Did you know that there are more than enough promises in the Word of God to keep you stress free? I truly believe if we trusted the WORD at ALL times, then there would be no stress.
However, when circumstances arise we often become more focused on the circumstance and completely forget the promises of God in the midst of our situations. Remember it's not ever my job to fix anything apart from the Holy Spirit's guidance. He is in control and when He is in control there is no cause for stress. If I try to fix things on my own, stress will arise, because there is NO trust of God in my own self-reliance.
So let's practice a little stress relief shall we?
Psalm 32:7 You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. HE SURROUNDS YOU WITH SHOUTS OF DELIVERANCE, DELIVERING YOU OUT OF ALL TROUBLE!
2 Pet 1:4 - He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Gen. 28:15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.
Deut. 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He shall thrust out the enemy from before you; and will say, “Destroy them!”
Ps. 27:1,2 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
2 Thess. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and keep you from evil.
and my favorite... 2 Cor. 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and through us shows the savour of His knowledge in every place.
God is TRUSTWORTHY and you can TRUST Him to be faithful to His Word. You will find that stress leaves when the Word of God is trusted.
Be Blessed, J. Tate
