Make It Known

10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. (Eph. 3:10) This morning as I read along this verse stopped me. Whatever Paul is talking about (we'll get there) he wants the manifold wisdom of God to be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in heavenly places. Understanding the concept of the heavenlies is important for this verse, otherwise it  could really be confusing. Often Paul refers to different levels of heaven, one of those realms being the spiritual realm where angels, demons, powers and principalities are. So Paul is saying here ... so that the manifold wisdom of God would be known THROUGH THE CHURCH to the rulers and authorities in this realm, which is satan and his demons (satan is god of this earth at this time 2 Cor. 4:4)

So to get to the great charge to us in this passage we need to go up two verses and see what Paul is talking about.

To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things;

He's saying that his assignment was to "preach to the gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery that has been hidden" so that... verse 10 the wisdom of God would be made THROUGH THE CHURCH to the demonic principalities.

Paul preaches the unfathomable of riches of Christ and brings to light what is the administration of the mystery. It is our job to learn the administration of the mystery and display the wisdom of God to the enemy because "it is in accordance with the eternal purpose of Jesus" (v. 11)

Then Paul encourages, "don't lose heart" (v13) and he prays that the "riches" would be demonstrated in us. 1. We would be strengthened with power through the Spirit (v. 16) 2. That Christ would dwell in our hearts through faith 3. That we would be rooted and grounded in love 4. Therefore we would be able to comprehend the depth of the love of God 5. and finally that we would be filled with the fullness of God

THIS IS OUR CHARGE. That we (the church) would demonstrate to the rulers and authorities and all people the mystery and riches of Christ and that is 1-5. The power and authority we've been given through the Spirit. The truth that Christ DWELLS IN US through faith. Displaying and showing the depth of the love of God and then showing what happens when MAN IS FILLED WITH THE FULLNESS OF GOD.

Paul is saying this was the eternal purpose of Christ Jesus (v. 11) to conquer sin, death, fear, guilt, shame... etc. revealing the mystery that the very Person of God in the Holy Spirit would come and dwell in man. Now man is given the authority and ability to to make known the Truth and Wisdom of God. In other words we should be making known who God is in us and through us, not just to the people around us, but the very demonic powers of hell should get a demonstrated lesson on how loving, powerful, merciful, and awesome our God is and it should be... THROUGH US.
