I want to...

"I want to take your Word and shine it all around, but first help me just to live it Lord. And when I'm doing well help me to never seek a crown, for my reward is giving glory to You"  (Oh Lord, You're Beautiful by Jesus culture)  Sometimes media just hits the button. It can come in the form of a play, tv show, movie, song, or book. All it takes is just one line, one scene, one song, and your defenses are penetrated. It's in these moments I remember our Holy Spirit is ever ready to use any source to encounter us.

This morning as I sat drinking my coffee and reading, music was playing, the above line was sung, my attention was grabbed, and down went all defenses.

I've met people from all over the world that have more love, more passion, more desire, more drive, more confidence, more faith, and more tenacity for the things of God than I have. These people inspire me daily. I look at their lives and I see their sheer fearlessness in taking Jesus to the world around them. I watch, listen, and read as they go up to the drug lords, into the war zones, in unheard of jungles with no technology, loving prostitutes, rescuing slaves, standing toe to toe with the powers of evil. Many of them give up their comfort zone of American society meaning Starbucks, spouses, real jobs, steady incomes, family, reliable internet, cars, phones, houses, and life as we know it to obey in what I would call, radical faith. Some live here and yet take time everyday to "stop for one" and their love for God and people is shown in the fruit that surrounds them.  They live for the Great Commission and glory of the Father with no regard of self.

As this song played this morning, tears fell, but my spirit rose. I want to take your Word and shine it all around, but Lord help me to live it first. I want to be the person that I preach to others to be. Help me to be a laid down lover of Jesus who doesn't hesitate to obey. Let me not look for affirmation and approval of man, but let bringing You glory satisfy my soul.

Let's take His Word and shine it all around. Let's be examples of the Word in all situations, living for His glory.

Be Blessed, J. Tate
