Why Love's Got So Much To Do With It

A few years ago I felt impressed to read John 13-17 everyday for almost 6 months. I wished I could accurately describe how deeply that season marked me and prepared me for things to come.
These few chapters hit home two major emphasis of our lives.

  1.  We undeniably need Holy Spirit
  2. Love is a non-negotiable

During this season God had spoken to me and said, "Jessika the world doesn't have a sin problem, it has a love problem."
Now I wasn't dumb enough to tell God He was wrong, but I sure thought He was. How in the world do you say we don't have a sin problem? Go watch the news. Take one step into a conflict zone. Goodness, take one step in a brothel in the states.
He began to explain, Jesus took care of the sin problem, that's gone. The problem is that we don't love Him and it's with Holy Spirit growing us in our love for Him that empowers us to not sin.

Recently I was given the opportunity to speak for a few moments to my BSSM2 graduating class (you can watch that here on iBethel.tv by creating a free account) and I charged them that their destiny was simply to fall in love with Jesus.

In the midst of life and even Christianity it can feel like there are five hundred other assignments that we call our destiny. Where I live we're constantly challenged to dream bigger and believe that we're "destined for greatness." It's such an incredible environment to watch people from birth until their 90's truly believing there are still dreams to be dreamed and achieved!
However, at the same time so many of us can be more in love with our dreams than we are the dream maker. We can be more focused on achieving those dreams than on building relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

Friends your destiny is to fall madly in love with Jesus because as you fall in love with Him, EVERYTHING ELSE we've been asked and commanded to do gets done.

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will keep my commandments"
John 13:34, 35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. BY THIS all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another"
Psalm 27:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart"

As we fall in love with Jesus, we become passionate about doing the desires of His heart. His utmost desire for His kids is that we would LOVE. As we learn to love each other then the world begins to see Him for who He really is. There is no greater evangelism than falling deeper in love with Jesus yourself.

True lovers will do anything for Love.

Be Blessed,
